Veolia Japan Offers Integrated Industrial Waste Management Services with Zeeklite Acquisition
Tokyo, Japan - Veolia Japan GK (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhiro Uchino) announced the complete acquisition of Zeeklite Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture) from ORIX Environmental Resources Management Corporation. This acquisition allows Veolia Japan to expand its waste management services, offering end-to-end, fully integrated industrial waste management services from collection to final disposal, addressing the growing needs of Japan's industrial sector.
Zeeklite operates one of Japan's largest private landfill facilities in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. It specializes in the final disposal of industrial waste, including specially controlled industrial waste, general waste, and contaminated soil.
Christophe Maquet, Veolia Senior Vice President, Asia-Pacific, emphasized the significance of this acquisition: "This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone in Veolia's commitment to Japan's ecological transformation. By integrating Zeeklite's extensive landfill capabilities into our portfolio, we wish to support Japanese industries with comprehensive waste management solutions."
Veolia Japan is committed to serving society through its extensive operations, including the operation & maintenance of 160 drinking and wastewater treatment facilities, the recycling of 56,000 tons of plastics, and the ability to treat 90,000 tons of hazardous waste with heat recovery annually. The company also operates five wood chip biomass power plants, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable energy solutions. This strategic acquisition of Zeeklite is aligned with Veolia's Strategic Program, 'GreenUp’, and its three growth boosters, which aim to boost hazardous waste treatment, promote new water solutions, and advance local decarbonizing energy solutions.
