Our History

Veolia is a comprehensive environmental solutions company headquartered in France with global business operations.

In Japan, Veolia Group operates in three main areas: water, waste management, and energy management. Since its establishment in 2002, the Company has continued to provide services throughout Japan, building on its globally cultivated experience and network, along with the technology and community trust developed by each group company in their respective business fields.

Compagnie Générale des Eaux (CGE), the predecessor of Veolia, was established in 1853 by imperial decree. Its founders have two goals: to irrigate the countryside and supply water to French towns and cities. CGE signed its first contract, to supply water to Lyon.
